The Consumer Law Group Inc., a Montreal-based law firm, has filed a nationwide class action suit against RIM for the BlackBerry outage that occurred in mid-October. As a BlackBerry user, I can say that I did experience a few inconveniences during the outage, but that's all they were. In fact, I had some very exciting news I wanted to share with my friends and family during that time and when I realized I couldn't text or BBM, I called people - what a novel idea!
The fact that this law firm is trying to sue RIM and that consumers are actually on board is absolutely ridiculous. Does that mean the next time your Internet provider has an unexpected outage you're going to sue them? What about when you encounter construction on the road that makes you late for a meeting, will you sue the City? Where do you draw the line?
Perhaps if all of these people stopped relying on their phones so much, they'd become human again and realize that suing RIM is not only ridiculous, but also greedy and unnecessary.
